Paper piecing and pluses

I've been catching up on my paper-pieced stars this month, having not touched them for the last 3 months!

I'm using my Simply Solids Stash Crew fabrics, and random charm squares or pieces from my stash to fill in the fourth segment of the star.

Here's my progress so far.....

PS - check out the geeky colour co-ordinated pegs!

The pink and yellow are nearly finished, I've been trying to be methodical and do two blocks at once to cut down on the number of times that I have to pause/trim/press. Their other halves are still on the table needing the last trims and piecing of the quarters. It does seem to be speeding these blocks up, but they still take absolutely AGES!

Linking these up to the Paper Piecing Party at Quiet Play

I've also been working on a quilt with my Lotta Jansdotter fabric:

Unfortunately, I really don't love it, although I really want to - I can't put my finger on why either....

So, the current plan is to do some straight line quilting and hopefully get it finished in time to donate to the Siblings Togther project, although I'm now wondering if it's too babyish?

To end on a nice note - we went to see Eddie Izzard last night at the O2 - twas fab!!

  1. Those stars are so pretty! And I like your quilt, but I think I know what you mean. I think quilting will really transform it - maybe use a white/light blue to quilt in the solid blue squares to soften the blue/white contrast?

  2. The stars look amazing! I did giggle about the pegs! The quilt top is brilliant too, I agree with Sonia about the quilting :)

  3. I can't tell which I like more the stars or the crosses!?!?! They are both beautiful. Just popping over from Quiet Play's LInky' Party.

  4. Ooh your stars are looking so pretty! Love the plus quilt too!

  5. Your stars are fabulous, I know what you mean about them taking ages though!

I am sure you will love the crosses quilt too, when it is finished.

  6. i noticed your color coordinated pegs right away!! i love your stars; they are a time consuming project but will be well worth it in the end. Sorry your blues quilt has given you the is pretty; i love how the repeat pattern has formed diamonds!

  7. Your stars are looking great, very neat. I like the blue quilt very much, and I dont think it's babyish at all. It will look fab when it's been quilted.

  8. For some reason your most recent posts didn't show up in my reader. I thought you were just quiet! The stars are great, and I agree that maybe you will love the crosses one a bit more when it's quilted. I don't think it's too babyish - it's very stylish!

Please let me know what you think, I <3 comments!
